一隻老鼠——不，你無法確認那是一隻老鼠。這大概是你在這地方見到的第923件奇聞軼事了。你打開筆記本，開始記錄起老鼠的一切。同時，為了與你以其他語言紀錄的故事區分，你慎重地在開頭加上「ZH」編碼。ZH-923，就是這樣，你在繁體中文地區所見到的第九百二十三件奇聞軼事。

一隻老鼠，住在下水道裡的老鼠。既然這裡只有它一隻，那麼牠肯定就是這裡的帝王了吧？你如此想著，在老鼠的繪圖上加了一頂王冠。

準確而言，這隻老鼠並不住在下水道。你環視了周遭的環境，試圖給出一個完整的描述。思考了許久後，你決定以「文字與意識」這樣虛無飄渺的比喻來形容老鼠所處之地。這其實是非常荒唐的，畢竟一個有形體的存在，比如你，怎麼可能住在這樣沒有實體的地方呢？但畢竟你看見的是一隻老鼠，老鼠可是很神祕的動物。

這隻老鼠之所以令你花了這麼久才確定品種，是因為它看上去一點也不「老鼠」。呈五角星狀的身體中央是一顆大大的人類眼睛，背後還有一條粉紅色的老鼠尾巴，簡直像是孩童的畫作。

老鼠盯著你，不曾移開視線。

你們首次發現老鼠的地方，是在一座廢棄的村莊。村莊裡有非常多的老鼠，但也只有一隻老鼠。老鼠隨時都盯著你們，如果有什麼地方出錯，老鼠就不開心了。老鼠不開心的話會發生什麼事情呢？這個問問你失敗的朋友們就知道了。但是，老鼠似乎也有仁慈之心。如果你只出了一次錯，那麼你只會看見老鼠。如果你出了兩次錯，老鼠就會靠近你。而當你犯了三次錯……那麼你也不知道會發生什麼，因為你目前只犯了兩次錯。

其實一開始，你們是看不見老鼠的，然而你與朋友們強烈的求知慾，最終使得老鼠親自出來迎接你們。與你一起探索此處的朋友曾經嘗試用更為科學的手法去紀錄這隻老鼠，但很顯然的，老鼠不是一種能被這樣紀錄的生物。另一位朋友嘗試以食物引誘老鼠，想將老鼠抓回去飼養，不過老鼠並不領情。在你的朋友失敗後，老鼠增加了，隨後老鼠又只剩下一隻。看起來這隻老鼠並不喜歡受常規所束縛，並且具有強大的招集能力。還有一位朋友，他被無處不在的老鼠給嚇著了，最後進了療養院，真是可憐。

由於鼠患實在是太嚴重了，因此所有的區域都進行了一次消毒。消毒花費了你與你朋友的大量資源，還得向鄰村解釋你們不是打算燒了整個村子，天啊，打死你都不想再搞一次了。終於，老鼠從一隻變成了一隻，你也被指派為這個地區的滅鼠專員。
